Life's A Beach

I don't approve of going to California and not going to the beach. It just feels wrong. Especially if Disneyland is out of the question (which it was this time. cause we're poor). So Will gave me a day at the beach. Outside of Malibu there is a less well-known beach called Leo Carrillo beach. It has tide pools and sea caves. Sign me up.

Bear with me. Will was a photo-taking machine at the beach. Mostly because he's anti-Pacific Ocean. Apparently it's too cold. Silly, spoiled east coaster. Years at the beaches in Washington and California have led me to be surprised by warm beaches, rather than to expect them.

This sea cave was actually a tunnel we used to get from one section of beach to the next.

After a thorough search, we selected our own section of beachfront property
Once we found a spot we liked we threw a baseball around for the while. I only dropped it in the ocean a few times, but the waves always brought it back to me. Later, it proved too windy for a frisbee, but on one lunge for the disc I did give Will's borrowed sunglasses a nice bath in the ocean. So that's nice.

Will was either too cool or too cold to play with me in the water for very long. But he did stand so long in one spot taking pictures that his feet were completely swallowed by the sand.

Thanks to Pinterest for this one...

In the end I got my day at the beach. But I also got a nasty sunburn. I don't get it. The first thing I did when we got to the beach was put sunscreen all over, but the only place on my body that did not burn was my face (something of a miracle). The sunscreen must not have stuck or I didn't let it dry for a long enough time. My arms, back, neck, and legs were an angry red mess for the next few days. I am too white to be allowed...
