Better Late Than Never?

My baby boy turned three months two days ago. So here is his two month update that I wrote, but never bothered to post on the blog. Ha...

Witten filled out quite a bit between one and two months.
Soon we'll have a real chubbster on our hands.

Loves: kicking his piano and swatting hanging toys in his baby gym, looking at himself in the mirror, chattering away, smiling and being smiled at

I don't even care that I accidentally focused on his legs instead of his face in this picture. This is the cutest!!

Hates: falling asleep, being thrown in the air (so scary!), tummy time, having a dirty diaper

New Tricks: tracking movement with his head and eyes, briefly grasping a rattle and giving it a shake or two, whining to let us know he's not mad but he's also not getting what he wants

He is on the verge of laughing. He'll smile and let out a squeak or a little "humph" and a gurgle. It's only a matter of time before those turn into giggles.

Tummy time only lasts a few minutes at a time before he gets frustrated, but during those minutes he holds his head high and wiggles his legs back and forth. Sometimes he almost tilts onto his side. This boy never stops moving, just like before he was born. At least now I can rest peacefully and watch him kick and flail instead of feeling it happening inside me.

It's very special to watch a boy and his dad bond. And I think these pictures make it perfectly clear how much Will loves his little boy.

Four and Twenty

Twenty-four is my favorite number. William was 24 when we got married. Witten was born on the 24th of October. But these events just confirmed that 24 is the greatest. It's always been my favorite number. And now I finally get to be 24 for a whole year!

I am always super spoiled on my birthday. Will has a gift for making birthdays special. This year he bought me a breathtaking bouquet of lilies and told me to be ready to go at 10am. After a lot of pressing he finally admitted we were going to the greatest Starbucks in the world! Right here in Falls Church, VA!

When we pulled up to an actual Starbucks I was more than a bit confused. We went inside the Starbucks and I had no idea what to expect. A quick survey of the cafe did not reveal anyone we knew. Why were we here? Will explained we were meeting someone.

Finally a guy walked in carrying a massive black rectangle. He removed a fabric case to reveal a big, beautiful keyboard. Now I have something in our apartment to play my new Billy Joel and Beatles music on!

Witten has always loved music, be it a CD, singing at home, or hymns at church, and so of course he is a big fan of the keyboard. And I love playing with him on my lap.

The other day Witten started waving his arms around above the keys and made contact once or twice. He'll be pounding the ivories in no time. Now if I could just get him to stop crying every time I play my violin...

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love spending time with family. I love getting and giving presents. I love the holiday cheer and how everyone seems a bit happier in December. But mostly, I love to celebrate the birth of my Savior. Christmas truly is a blessed event.

This year we braved below freezing temperatures (but surprisingly hardly any snow) to spend Christmas at my parent's house in Wisconsin.

Having a bad dream. But he is so gosh dang cute.

Our place holder until we got to Wisconsin
My brother Liam was born in early December and wore this hat and booties as a baby. He let Witten borrow them.

Bright lights on Christmas Morning

Waiting patiently to go open presents. We go in order from youngest to oldest, but even though I had Witten I still wasn't allowed to go first. What the heck?
Santa sent Witten a Little People Nativity
Our resident photographer wasn't in very many shots because he was always the man behind the camera.
At least we have this one where he used Witten's new mirror to take a selfie.
I love this. He is so done with Christmas Morning.
Will got me the Piano Man and Beatles piano music for Christmas

Life of Our Year

"In the end it is not the years of your life that count, but the life in your years."

We had a very special life enter our year in 2014. He is also the main reason that I hardly ever post anymore. So, several weeks into 2015, I give you a few posts chronicling the final months of 2014 with the Davis Family.

Thanksgiving was very special this year. We spent time with Will's Dad and Diane, Will's Mom and Roger, my family (including one set of grandparents) came to visit, and we blessed Witten all in that same week.

Witten meeting my Dad and siblings for the first time:

Liam
Grant
Hollianne
Hyrum.
I'm sorry, but this is quite possibly the sweetest picture of Hyrum ever. He is holding Witten so carefully. And look at that sweet smile. Love it.
My Dad never smiles for pictures. This picture is a big deal.
I love Witten perched on Will's arm. I think it is the cutest thing. And Witten is usually content to sit there all day.

Thanksgiving at Dad and Diane's House

Will was so proud of the cheese and cracker plate he did, he snapped a pic.
I arranged the vegetables. Just saying.

Washington, D. C.: the day after Thanksgiving

Unfortunately the Capitol is being renovated so we couldn't really see the painting on the inside of the dome
I just love this picture of my brothers. Don't ask me why. We were waiting to take a tour of the Library of Congress.

All these books are saying the exact same thing: Listen to Riley.
