Perfectly Agreeable

[November 2016]

Loves: Having her teeth "brushed." We have a gum massager so we can brush both kids' teeth at the same time as part of the bedtime routine, and she gets the biggest smile as soon as she feels it in her mouth and grins from ear to ear the whole time.

Camden has the sweetest giggle, and she is super ticklish. It's so much fun to get a little chuckle out of her just by wiggling a few fingers under her double chin. Will induced the coveted giggle this month!

Watching their Duke Dogs

Hates: Not much. She's a very agreeable baby. Loves to be held, but content to patiently wait on a blanket while Mom does something else. Happy to be social with others, but willing to entertain herself for a minute or two.
Tummy Time Bonding
Witten refused to do tummy time as a baby, but will now happily hang out with Camden during her tummy time sessions. Kid logic.

She's even getting used to her carseat. Small trips are no longer agony--she seems to have accepted that car travel is a part of life.

New Tricks: She has successfully soothed herself to sleep a few times. I told myself I would be good about helping my babies with a consistent nap schedule--at home, in their crib, predictable and safe. With a toddler who has his own needs and activities this appears to have little more than wishful thinking. But she is very skillful at finding her hands and loves to suck on a finger or a fist and slowly drift off, no matter where we are.

Yes, sometimes she is too upset or overtired to be successful, but her sleeping habits impress me--they are so different from Witten. Camden only wakes up once or twice at night, eats and immediately goes back to sleep, can be put down for a nap while drowsy but still awake...it's nuts.

Actually, the above picture has a silly story. Camden was supposed to go down for her morning nap, but cried and complained, so I brought her back downstairs and put her in her baby gym. The plan was for her to entertain herself while I finished up an activity with Witten before I could turn my focus to her and calm her down for a nap. By the time I returned to her, she was happily snoozing.

Theme Song: New Soul, Yael Naim
