Standing Tall

Witten is a few weeks from turning four months old. So here is his three month update...I'm getting closer to being caught up...

Witten likes to know what's going on. Especially if Dad comes home from work and turns on the Capitals game. He is perfecting the back arch so he can see the screen no matter how Mom tries to move or distract him. Go Caps?

Is that Ovi?!

Hurrah for clipped tongue ties! Witten loves to smile this way

Loves: Staring at a black and white poster of Iwo Jima we have on the living room wall (he could smile at it all day long), rattles, being held up high so he can feel tall, bouncing up and down on mom's legs, being around people to watch and smile at (but don't take him away from mom. no more smiles.)

I say he likes it because he's a history guy. Will says he likes it because he's an American.

Hates: Tummy Time (what else is new) and eczema. It is all over his eyes, shoulders, neck and chest. He doesn't seem to mind when I spread medicated vaseline on his eyes, but he wails when I rub it into the angry red patches on his chest. It is causing some serious pain. Poor little dude.

The Progression of Tummy Time. Enjoy:

Five Minutes Later...
New Tricks: Standing on his own two feet with impressive stability and strength and scratching his eczema with unfortunate determination. I am terrible at filing his fingernails--I swear they just get sharper. He gets an arm out of his swaddler at night (removing any mitten I may have put on) and produces ugly scratches around his eye. He looks like he was attacked by a cat. It has caused a few double takes when we are out and about and I'm sure a few judgements involving neglectful parenting.

After a particularly gruesome night of scratching...
He has also rolled from his tummy to his back twice, but on accident. I place him down for tummy time, turn around for a second, turn back, and see him lying on his back with a confused expression. But, I think it is a good sign. He does so much wiggling (mostly in frustration) when he is on his tummy that it is only a matter of time before he is rolling on his own.

Theme Song: Stand By Me, Ben E. King
