Another thing that keeps me up at night is the same thing that will keep me up at night for months after labor and delivery--the little dude himself. The other night, about 2:30 am, he felt the time had come to take up kick boxing. He is so big now and there is not very much room, so I feel every single little movement. Twist and Shout.
Baby: Weighing in at over 5 pounds and more than 18 inches long, our little guy is well on his way to being as big as he will be at birth. The last few weeks have seen the development of his kidneys and liver. In fact, most of his basic physical development is complete, and his main focus is just gaining weight.
Besides being active, another trait I think he and his dad share are very pointy elbows. It's quite an experience when Baby pushes one out and drags it across my stomach! He also gets the hiccups about once a day now--sometimes for more than 5 minutes at a time--and my stomach pops up and down with each one.
There is not very much I will miss about being pregnant (in case you couldn't tell...I'm sick of being sick) and I'm excited to look down and be able to see my toes again, but I am going to miss feeling Baby Boy Davis shuffle and groove. It can be surprising and sometimes it does keep me up at night, but it is also just so exciting. There's a little person in there!
Cravings/Aversions: In keeping with the changing seasons, I am currently obsessed with apples. You can buy them by the bag at the grocery store for cheap from a local farmer and I am totally taking advantage of that. Honeycrisp and granny smith are my current varieties of choice.
Lately, dairy and I have not been on good terms. The lactate exacerbates my nausea and acid reflux like none other. This makes things difficult when I spend a good deal of my day thinking about drinking milk and eating frozen yogurt. In fact, I love milk so much that sometimes I justify drinking a glass (or three) and then just suffer the consequences. Will has taken it upon himself to prevent this unnecessary sickness because I am not responsible enough to do so. Just yesterday he reminded me that "dairy free is the way to be!" He's the best.
Another fun update, my innie belly button has officially become an outie, and last week my first-ever stretch marks appeared. Some on my hips, and a couple on my stomach. Such fun.
Theme Song: Twist and Shout, The Beatles

You and your fruit! :) I can't wait to hear the name you decide on -- just a few more weeks!
