Taking in the Skyline Drive with Aunt Helen and Audrey
Our General Conference puzzle project, Halloween pumpkins in Colonial Beach, Will's Earth Pumpkin for his 5th Graders. They were learning about Earth layers.
At one point, Will shaved his beard. And he documented it. It's back now. Joy.
Our Trip to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving: Twister and Pictionary (Will drew himself) at home, A visit to Notre Dame to see the football stadium and the golden dome, A stop for lunch at the Paradise Pup in Chicago, and a brief drive into Michigan on the way home, just to say we've been there.
Let's talk about Paradise Pup. This is a Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives location in Chicago. It is the best one we had been to to this point! (We went to one in DC a few weeks ago that blew everything else out of the water…upcoming post on that…) 5 Stars!! Will and I both had cheeseburgers and we split an order of cheddar bacon fries. The bun on the burger was out of this world. And the juice. Oh my gosh. Never have I had such a juicy burger. Never. It was flowing all over the place! The fries were good, but the order was so huge, I got sick of them by the end (and we split an order). One thing I will say, they certainly don't skimp on the bacon.
The place was tiny. Nothing but a counter and a grill, and right after we ordered there was a massive lunch rush. The line was out the door, in the freezing Chicago wind! We elected to eat in our car just to have space. It was still worth it. There were also some Triple D pictures on the wall. That fancy red convertible gets towed all over the country. Finally it makes sense.
We had a good year in 2013. Lots of fun stuff. Stay tuned for a post about my birthday a few weeks ago--if the rest of the year is anything like the start, 23 will be treating me well.

(It's been a long time, now I'm coming back home.)

Super hungry for a burger -- which is not so great since Neal just told me we're having beans and rice or salad for dinner. Blah. So glad to hear that you'll be in Hawaii next summer so I can see you guys again!!
